That is a good setup. Yes, as Billy said they will fairly quickly, outgrow the antworld. But for the time being this setup is perfect for them in my opinion.

Thanks Billy. I can just join one on eventually. They all seem to be congregating in the tubing! I think I will feed them, I don't know when they were fed last.

Why don't you try my recipe for sugar egg? My M. rubra colony loves it. You can find it in the Ant Diet section.

Yes, banana could be a suitable source of energy.
Feeding a colony this size live crickets would be a very bad idea anyway. You could try live maggots, but other than that stick to dead insects for now.

Not necessarily. The ants in my area have woken up.

It will be normal if they are still a bit sluggish as they are just awaking/have awakened in the wild.
Yes a piece of banana would be ideal for them.
Remember that Myrmica rubra drink quite alot of water. So make sure your setup is a bit humid so that they can drink off droplet or that you have a water source for them.

The farm is quite condensated due to the moist sand/soil so I will continue to moisten it.

Hmm... Most of the ants and the 2 queens are in the middle of the tubing with the eggs and larvae. Any idea why here and do you think they'll move?!

They feel most secure in the tube for now. When they get a few tunnels and chambers built then they will most likely move in to the nesting box. I would not worry about it for the first week or two.
Have they attempted to dig at all?

No need to worry, mine were in the tube for ages. They won't die. And it's great, because you can see them really well.

Ah thanks. Well today I can't seem to find many of them. They could be in the outworld which I have put lots of moss and soil in... how many times a week should they be fed and where is best to put the food?

If you want them to multiply quickly, feed them until they've had enough. They can survive on less than that though. Always put the food in the foraging tank (outworld).
