Hi
I made a similar thread during the hibernation period, here a different question springs to mind...
Will ants produce there males and females earlier than normal, as it is a lot warmer?
I believe that they will.

I believe that they will. It's possible, Jon, though the ants will have to bring in a lot of food for that to happen, and, of course this warmer weather might just be temporary.

Will it not have to get more humid to do that right now I believe we are in a anticyclone because its warm with little or no cloud cover so it won't be that humid.

Personally, I think all it will do is give the colonies emerging from hibernation a bit of a boost due to the warm weather causing other insects to come out and be eaten. :-P
Though it's been vary warm over the past few days, the ground could still be cool.

I have Seen Nuptial flights At I.C.I in Hartlepool, they are flying around (Formica Fusca, Lasius Niger and Even Myrmica Ruginodis.) I was like what the TRUCK!?
Too early, I have not captured any yet though.

No way Surely they wouldn't have been out of hibernation long enough to lay/ rear/ produce queens?

I have seen queens running along, I have NOT seen the Flights, but Apparently a friend said on site they were flying around in piping that was getting used etc.

Well the flights are usually in around July - August because not many colonies over-winter alate brood. ;D
