I'm just watching a 'Canon EOS 1000D 10MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens' on eBay, it's £325 so I'm tempted, only 30 mins to go, thoughts? Lol :/ EDIT: I have just found the same camera brand new for £350 so £325 for used is maybe not a bargain afterall, I will keep looking and thinking about it

I do not know the camera but I know Canon is a reliable product bought new. I don't know what condition the current camera is in though so cannot comment on that.
Sorry for not being much of a help,
Flavus

If you can afford it without forgoing other more important bills, then I say....TREAT YOURSELF!!! ;D I can, I have plenty but I'm a bit tight haha! My Brother is working in Australia and has some mates who are into DSLR cameras so he's going to ask their advice tomorrow (that's today over there, to confuse any half asleep Bin Lids ) My girlfriend reckons I am spending too much on ants! I said it will be useful for the African Safari as well! Which got me into trouble because I'm going with my Brother and she's not invited

Hey, throw some cash my way!
I have a nikon coolpix L110 it's not DSLR but is amazing for beginners and photoing moving animals (for your safari) is really easy. I managed hundreds of good quality photos when I went to longleat safari park last weekend. Plus it has a great quality 15x zoom!

That Nikon coolpix looks just like a DSLR! As you say it isn't one though, I am rubbish at making decisions like this one, my Brother on one side trying to make me spend more and me trying to spend less... I think now I will wait for a few days and think about it and maybe buy a brand new Canon, it's £350 with lens: www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/eos-1000d-digital-slr-camera-with-canon-18-55-mm-ef-s-zoom-lens-10-1-mp-02441727-pdt.htmlBest price I could find a brand new one for, I don't like second hand stuff much anyway, and it would not be just for ants obviously, but I may have to buy a macro lens for them at £100 ish but I would wait and see what stock macro produces first.

Yeah when my Brother finishes his work in Australia and comes back to the UK we are hoping to go to Kenya most likely, I've been saving up for years because I don't have a fancy degree like him! Lesson there Bin Lids, try your hardest at school and expensive cars and cameras will be easily affordable! He's on about getting a £1,000+ Canon for himself when he gets back, I might even wait and just borrow that haha

My canon has pretty good macro, not tried it on an ant yet though. It costs £150-£200. Good thing is if your low on money you don't have to pay of for expensive lenses.
