What exactly is this plan?

Fill the container with something undiggable, that is the same size but about 5mm small all around. Fill the gaps with soil. They can dig, they're close the side so I can see them, they have a hard object to live against and when they come up top they have an open forage area where a can have some plants too.
Make sense? I doubt it.

It makes perfect sense. I have seen a lot of tutorials on how to make those on websites. Flavus

Do you have a link for one of those because I have no idea how I'll make it?

Cool, thanks. I think I have seen the video before. Got to try and think how to do that in a large-ish container which is an odd shape..

That will be tough with an odd shaped container. Could you make a mold and pour grout or plaster into it? Then you custom make the object that would be inside the tank.

Thank-you. It was not a problem even though I did not give you to much to work with. Flavus

I reckon if I put small pieces of wood around the edges and glue a flexible material to them I can form the right shape. What will they be mote visible against, sand or soil?

They're visible against both, but I'd say sand.
