Wanted to feed my lovely little Queenies today but I'm out of honey!!
Thinking of giving them a little bit of golden syrup, could that suffice, ant experts?

I've neved tried jam. Do nigers like it? They seem to, though they can be a bit fickle. I have tried strawbarry and raspbarry jams.

Ah right okay, yeah my Nigers have very strange times when they will like something say Meal worms for a couple of days then they will go off them, then come back to them. Ever seen this behaviour Myrm?

I have read some species are vAry picky with sugars, could you feed the crickets/mealworms honey water, or jam, to then pass the sugars onto the ants? I believe Maple Syrup is from trees, where as golden syrup is a arfticial, I think, I'm not sure.

Ever seen this behaviour Myrm? Yes it seems to happen quite often, but then again I guess if your mom gave you the same meal every day you'd go off it too. ;D

I use golden syrup and my ants enjoy it... I also sometimes dip a little bit of apple into some to make it extra sweet! ;D I don't use jam anymore because it always seems to turn watery and end up killing workers

I I believe Maple Syrup is from trees, where as golden syrup is a artificial, I think, I'm not sure. Golden Syrup is made from refined sugar, so its not relay artificial in the sense of it been created of solely chemicals, and it also it taste's great
