Hi all
I'm making a Ytong nest, originally intended for Messor Barbarus. However the Antstore has none of that species, hasn't had any for a loooong time, and doesn't expect any for the foreseeable future. So change of plans!
Do I need to select a species that nests under stones, or will any species adapt to Ytong? I want them to be happy in their tunnels.

Is this your first ant colony?

No, I've had a Lasius Niger nest, although not in Ytong. So it needs to be a basic species, but I quite liked the idea of ants making larders of seeds

You could buy from a different shop that have Messor is stock... ;D If you don't know where to look, start at Queen Ant Shop as they have a selection of harvester ants including Messor Barbarus.
