My Lasius Niger colony has grown to +- 22 workers, queen is still alive and well, but there is just one thing... ... It's been almost 4 months since I've got them, and they were still in the test-tube, so I kind of forced them out and moved them to the slim tank! (I don't know if this was a bad idea, I just felt that 4 months was the limit!) The Queen is currently in one of the "widgets" of the slim tank, which the workers have blocked with sand. -A lot of workers are now standing still at the same location where the former entrance of their test-tube was. (in the foraging area) -The workers show no interest in digging. -They only seem to like jelly and flies, what else can I feed them (preferably something I do not have to buy) -Will they be ok?

I am sure they will be fine.
This is why, unless for some extenuating circumstances you shouldn't really force your ants to move home, however, they have settled into their new nest and so that is good news.
As for those ants that are hanging around; mine have done that in the past but they eventually move back with the rest of the colony.
If flies and jelly is all your ants will eat then feed them that. You could try fruit if you have any at home, especially soft fruits such as grapes, strawbarry or raspbarry.
I wouldn't worry too much about your ants though I do understand how you feel; I'm about to travel for 9 months and won't be home until May next year. My ants are going to go for a vary long time without fresh food and I am worried about them.

I would try some flightless fruit flys as you could feed them live and not worry about parasites

Ok, so today I was wondering how my ants were doing, but since I haven't seem them for a few days, I decided to investigate. I noticed that the widget connected to the foraging area was blocked with sand, so I thought, "hey, maybe that's the problem!" So I removed the sand....
....and then all the ants + Queen started to come out! (They moved from one widget to the other, without me noticing it) In other words, I destroyed their home! Thank god the queen survived and they are rebuilding their nest as I'm writing this post.
One thing was pretty cool to see though, when I removed the sand, I noticed a few ants were investigating what was destroying their nest, and immediately attacked (ran over) my hand and the stick I was using! The other ants were surrounding the Queen who fled into the tube, but returned to the widget soon after.
I hope all will be well now, I'll keep you guys updated!
