So I've ordered my first queen I ordered 1 Lasius Niger queen with 5-10 workers from Queen Ant Store. Was just wondering what the growth speed is for a colony, how long will it take to get 20 workers, 50, 100?

It all depends what the living conditions are good conditions and steady food will make 45 before winter i think.

As Dermy says, It is very dependent on environmental factors. Take an example of one of AntsCanada's tetramorium colonies; when they had filled the pumice stone nest they were in, the queen reduced the amount of eggs she laid.
Best of luck with your ants! ;D

With hibernating: As my colony will be on a heat source and very hot 24/7 will they still naturally go into hibernation?

They will still be fairly inactive, but whether or not their metabolism will slow is questionable. It's best to just hibernate them.

How would I go about hibernating them? I could put them outside but other than that I don't think I'll have a "cold" room.
