Well hi,new here. Ive got a few questions that will probably make me sound stupid. Firstly, i have just ordered a colony from antstore, and was wondering if the starter set a was big enough and if so,for how long. Secondly,if your colony is succesful and starts producing winged ants,do you let them go into the wild? And on the website, why does some of the past ant colony journals end with no real ending.
Cheers,Alex.

Cheers,Alex. There are no stupid questions on this forum; the only stupid question is the one that is not asked ;D 1. Yes, the starter kit is plenty big enough. How long it will be big enough for depends on which size you brought, but the beauty of these starter kits is that you can always buy more and attach them onto each other. 2. Most ant species prefer to mate their winged ants with those from another colony, so yes, if your colony produces fliers then just let them go into the wild. 3. Some of the journals on the main website suddenly end with no further updates because I spend most of the year away from home (I probably only spend about 10 weeks a year at home). So many of these early colonies died out, or I gave them away, but did not have access to the journals to update them at the time.

And i bought the starter set a, so how long will this be big enough for? It really depends on how well the colony does but I would say 2-3 years, perhaps longer.

I have kept Myrmica rubra and there is a journal there: click here to read it. No need to apologise, there's no proplem with members who deleted their accounts to come back and make a new one, or for guests to make an account after having posted as a guest for a while, I'm glad that you came back and have made a new account.
