Thanks guys. Rubra, does it look pixelated as a wallpaper? If it does, I could give you a link to a full size version.

Billy If you check it It's massive you need to scale down to 50% zoom and its not blurry, only the rear end but I love the head patterns and no I clicked the link and used it at 100% and it fits the desktop snug as a bug, also the most high quality pic I've seen, Better than Alex Wild.

Have you guys even seen his photos? They're amazing! I don't know how he gets those vibrant colours.

He does have experience, skill and the vary best equipment at his disposal though. I have to be honest though; I am really impressed with the efforts that our bin lids, such as Billy, provide on this forum where pictures of ants are concerned.

Personally I say Billy's could beat any of alex wilds photo's putting into consideration he isn't pro and is a bin lid and that can beat anything in the world billy, you must look hard at your photo, you can see every single mark on your rubra's head.

Detail is not the only thing to look for in macro photography. Colour quality is also very important, as well as positioning of the subject, the subject it's self and the background.

Yes and your pic has every one of those, except background, that photo is exceptional!

The colours aren't great, the ant is a little too low in the picture, the very tip of the antenna is off the photo. I have another which I believe to be better, I'll upload it soon.

Billy, Can you make the next one smaller please. We only have a limited amount of space on this server for pictures, and if they are too big we will run out of space. Thanks

I'll use imageshack. Uploaded with ImageShack.usEDIT: I might have overdone the image editing just a little bit.
