On my lemani arena I have a line of ptfe around near the top, below the lid. One worker kept going for a walk on the inside of the lid. She's found a small path in the corner of the tank.
Is it safe to put ptfe on now they are in the tank? Are any fumes safe? Any other suggestions?
They can't get out due to the lid but I want to make it safer for example when feeding or cleaning.

If your worried about fumes just use vasilien. As far as i know if the foraging area is uncovered the PTFE shouldnt hurt them.

But then I would be also putting Vaseline over ptfe?
Should I put more ptfe on OR I could put some talc in the corners. Suggestions?

Try the ptfe first m8. If they still get over it, try the vasiline

Vaseline is pretty poo when it comes to escape proofing unless it is layered vAry thickly and replaced everyday.
The proplem with vaseline is that it quickly gets covered with dust and other stuff which they ants can use as a bridge. Ants also will drop dirt granules and other rubbish on it in order to cross it. It also dries out quickly to a level at which the ants can cross.
I have used it before and gave up on it.

Wait until the ants are in the test tube and remove them until it dries if you wish although i dont think they will go near it when wet

It's not the wetness I'm worried about because I can stand guard. It's more any fumes that concern me

It's the top of the foraging tank and lid will be off.
That should be okay right? I will stay watching while it dries so there are no escapees lol

I will stay watching while it dries so there are no escapees lol If it's for the foraging tank why not layer the vaseline along the lip of the glass of the tank (where the lid rests) and then place the lid on it. The lid will squash down onto the vaseline and, hopefully, provide a seal.
