"Tuff Stone" is a brand name for a type of gypsum cement more commonly known as "hydrostone". It's one of the stronger types of gypsum available, the best formicarium material we have in the US.

Its just a ferrero rocher box filled with plaster. I bet hes sold loads of them I've got a nest project running at the moment ( 3ft aquarium ) but when its done I'll make one of these. I bet I can do it for less than £30.

I do agree that the price is insane. Hydrostone costs like $30 for 50 lbs. Those containers can't be that expensive either. I have found a way to make cool formicariums. I will probably sell them for 30-40 dollars. Mine will have better ventilation and more detailed chambers. Pictures soon. ;D

The containers are decorative cake boxes . A 10 x 10 x10 inch one is about £20. Our lass uses them to display cup cakes. ;D

Am I right in thinking, that if you did have enough ants to fill all the chambers, the foraging area would be too small to support this amount?

The proportion between the foraging ground and nest space is wrong.

I think even having 1 or 2 sides with tunnels would be enough space
