I recently lost my Lasius Flavus queen, and Im looking to get another species, they will be kept in my home made Y-tong nest, in a cleaned fish tank with a thin layer of builders sand around it to forage.

3 of them have the same amount of votes, Camponotus ligniperda, Lasius Niger and Messor Barburus, I quite like Messor they seem so cool But Camponotus ligniperda look awesome aswell, but take a lot f time to grow

I'd say Myrmica Rubra, since I want those as well!

Can we please see the Y-tong nest? It may not be big enough for Camponotus.

Aha I have spoken to Queenantshop, and he said that the Messor Barburus 5-10 have 8 workers, which is good, but the Camponotus ligniperda are A LOT more expensive D: (I just got a new Rubra colony, 1 or two queens, with two workers 1 queen is HUUUGE)

Ok, I might make some of the tunnels bigger, so its easier with the seeds to store and move, how long should they be kept in the test tube? with Lasius flavus some pepole reccomend till there 150 strong, I dont thik this wil be the same with Messor Barburus, maybe 20/25?

Hi Poortea, I hope you are well and happy. How long to keep them in a test is not always an easy question to answer, however, my personal preference is that if I have a habitat available for them then I move them in right away.
