I am so I went to look at my Lasius Niger ans saw that there were 5 ants digging around a nice sized whole in the nest box. I then looked and saw a worker carrying a cocoon in the foraging tank, they are moving house! ;D I lunged for the camera and heard a massive crash, and was covered in sand. After a fit of swearing I finally realized what happened, I had pulled over my farm. I managed to find 1 ant, and have lost at least 4, probably more. I am very upset, and am SOOO angry with myself, a major drawback to such as small colony...

My god!? I hope they are ok! Be sure to sift through the sand for quite a while! Every worker counts. I am so sorry Jon!

The sand went all other me, and the dark brown carpet... The camera had caught round the connector port on the nesting tank. I am going up again now, I have laid honey around my room to see if they find it.

That is terrible. I really hope that you find more, sad to see a colony going through that.

Oh noes! You are a naughty bin lid!
Was there a queen present too?
You have to be so careful with these ant farms.
Good luck on finding them.

Queen was not present, noor was the cocoons I am happy to report that I saw workers going back up to the nest, and foraging tank. Maybe not as bad as I feel.
