Myrm, On your website it gives a link to all British ant species, howether Temnothorax is not included, I thought they were British!?!

Could 2 (or more) Temnothorax coloines be kept in the same set-up then? Or are the same species hostile? They would avoid each other for the most part. So far as the American Temnothorax that I know of, colonies do actually band together during the winter (and split up after hibernation). As long as there is plenty of space, I don't think the two colonies will run into any hostility. Unless you want to mark the workers and study competition between the two colonies, you basically have a bunch of indiscernible Temnothorax workers and two queens who live in separate houses.

If i were to have two colonies they would be of different temnotherax species...

Yep, Ive seen Leptothorax for sale. They are much like Temnothorax but :obigger is all I know, anybody know anything else"
