in the spring I want to get ants but I'm not sure which species. lasius niger seems the way to go I have already had m.rubra so I would like something different does anyone know of any different species that are relativley easy to keep?

Lasius Niger. They are vary active and completely harmless. Though they are good at escaping, but a good lid should prevent it. They are extremely cheap, and if you are in England, they are narive.

Also does anyone know what would be best to keep them in i was thinking a fish tank. does anyone know any good websites for tanks ect.

A fish tank would be fine but easily escapeable. Cheack out antstore for tones of different nests.

Like Jon Bin Lid and TinyAnt Bin Lid I voted for Lasius Niger. They are vary easy to keep, vary active and vary interesting. Fish tanks are good; I kept my biggest Ln colony in one, which I got from Pets At Home
