Has anyone ever purchased mini Meal worms to feed their ants with? I have been feeding my ants dried meal worms for a while now but its either a hit or a miss (gets totally ignored). So I ordered some live mini meal worms for them to scran. I am hoping that if my Barbs scran some of this then she will lay some eggs.

I have used fresh mealworms with my ants and it too seems to be hit and miss. I get the impression that they are not their favourite food but they will eat it if there is nothing else on the menu.

You think flies would have been a better option?

You think flies would have been a better option? My ants seem to love freshly killed flies, especially those big fat juicy ones. I wouldn't recommend dried insects for ants, the adult workers won't be able to eat them.

I was going to buy some wingless fruit flies aswell. Maybe next time.... How is it that the adult ants can't eat dried insects?

I didn't know that. Learn something new everyday eh? That will be why Barbarus make "ant bread" out of seeds rather than just eating them.
