Hi Guys
i just read that a major worker can carry out more complex stuff then a minor as jts bigger head means a bigger brain. Is it true minors are less intelligent then majors? If so is this the reason, or is this complete rubbish"

I don't believe it has a bigger brain at all, just more muscle.

Brain size isn't completely related to intelligence. Whales and elephants have brains up to five times larger than ours, but so far as is obvious they aren't nearly as intelligent as we are.

The only thing I can think of that a larger type of species will have more space for a bigger brain and because of that be smarter. Doubt it's the case with different sizes within the same colony, as Drew said it's mainly because they have a different role that requires more space for big jaw muscles.
Also I doubt ants can really "think", it's mostly pure instinct. Like when they are hunting, most species just mass attack their target and the number of ants make them win the fight. Unlike for example wolves that really have a logic in their attacks to limit loses and use as little energy as possible. Now I'm sure their are also ants who can hunt solo, they would require some brain power to judge if they are capable to attack a certain target or if they should try and find another one. But even that could be brought back to instinct.
The more I think about it the more difficult it gets lol, but from a pure logic point of view the limited brain ants have would suggest they fall back to instinct as much as possible.
