I purchased a Lasius Niger queen from antstore and she arrived with no eggs or workers. I have set her up in her new home by attaching the test tube to the ant farm. She has been in the tube for three weeks now and her water supply is low. It looks like she has laid some eggs but unclear to see. Surely I should have had some workers by now or have I been sold an infertile queen.

It takes at least 8 weeks from when the eggs are laid until the first workers are produced.

Thanx for the quick answer I just wondered about it as my Myrmica rubra colony established fairly quickly and now has about 300 strong. What about the water level in the tube it is getting low and I cannot replace it as she is walled in beteen the water supply and the testtube opening. Another question do you know if anyone has a colony of leaf-cutter ants as I would like to make this my next project.

I would unattach the testtube. Leave her in it and put somewhere dark and leave her alone for a few weeks so she can settle down.
