Here I am going to post my ytong questions because I have just vary nearly finished mine. 1) What's the best way to water it? 2) Are there any dangerous dusts or stuff in it that may kill my ants?
I will be keeping pheidole pallidula in it.
cheers.

Good afternoon,
1) Sorry, I am not too sure. Hopefully someone will answer soon. 2) I believe so, I always recommend washing the Y-tong with water or pass it with a blower until no dust is left.

I washed it before putting the glass on. There may be a small bit of dust left but nothing much. Do you think this will be okay?

If you can see it coating the nest then it will most likely cause some problems. If there is a way to get it all out without damaging anything then I would suggest trying and getting it all out. The reason that a problem may occur is because of there is enough dust in there and it gets moist enough for the ants to move then it may obscure the viewing of the colony. Flavus

1) you only need a bit of y tong rock showing at the surface. Pour some water on it then it will spead around to all corners of the nest because its lots of air holes in y tong. 2) ? Dont mind if I do a Q3 do you - how do the ants breathe in a y tong, where do the air holes in the nest go and how do you make them?
