I have 50 watt bulb slimline ant farm made of wood. Any help would be great. Needs be at 25c for messor barbarus and would that temp. be ok for niger?

I think nigers would be uncomfortable at that heat, they would probably die I'm only guessing 'coz one of the ways to move nigers from a test tube into a farm is gradually heat up the tube, I might be wrong.

I am guessing that you should just place the light far away from the nest and put a thermometer on or near the nest. Gradually move the light closer (every 5 minutes or so) until you hit the desired temperature. Leave the light on for 1-2 hours in the morning and 1-2 hours in the evening.
Please keep in mind I have no experience in heating ant farms.
I think that 25C would be good for Niger. However you will want to wait for somebody who has actually heated an L.Niger colony and find out what temperature they heat them at.
