So... I have this question - getting enough ants in the colony that you have is - well very well explained - what to do - if you have TOO many of them? I mean - I can't expand the set-up forever right? Does anyone of you have a good solution for population control? My ideas are - less protein in the diet - or get someone to hunt the ants... like a spider or a antlion...

Solutions:
- Let them go - Expand nest
Possible solutions:
- Reduce space -Reduce amount of food - not too much as this could prove fatal for your colony.

Well there is no such thing as too many ants in a colony.
But of course there may be too many for you to handle. Example: Not being able to provide the correct setup, finding it difficult with food demand etc....
At this point you should either stunt the colony's growth by feeding them less, smaller space etc..
Or the easiest and most convinient for everyone, Release the large colony and feel happy that you have done a well done job at raising them.

I'd let them go after a while (close to home, as to be able to study them and feel great about them in the wild .) but hold on aswell for a little while.
