Hey all, I'm still about Just an update to this: Drilled some holes: Test fit of the perspex top and making the cut: Pretty much done!: Feed/water chamber. Easy access, and that water tray is glued down The dark room is still going to be the bottom right chamber, I just need to think of an easy way of making something that will fold/flap down over it now. I'll have a think. My ants should be here soon!

Yeah, I just need to cut those bolts down now I thought it would look good then, just chunky metal and brickwork. I might need to drill the outworl etc access holes too before any ants go in...

Ants are here! I'll do another pictorial update in a sec (Everyone likes pics ) They're in the "moving in" stage, but I'm worried they'll take ages to do it. Any way to speed them out of the tube?

What species have you got?
Try to make the new nest dark, warm and moist. Keep the test tube in the light ( Not direct light ) so they will feel exposed.
Also you can try placing the test tube on top of the nest so that when they move they feel like they are digging up as in hibernation they have that tendency. I learnt this from another forum.

Yeah! they're in now. Unfortunately I just had to evict them from the test tube a minute ago, they weren't at all keen on leaving. The queen is just sat in one of the little tunnels atm, and at the darkest point. I left them in a low ambient light, with the dark room area with a place-mat over the top (I haven't figured out a blind system for them yet). They have a little blob of jam to keep them going, and the water mat has a little moisture on it. The queen is staying very still ,and the rest off the ants are exploring
