Interesting. Is that Y-tong? I make nests out of Pumice stone, but sadly they aren't available very large.

It is an "Autoclaved aerated concrete block". Got it from B&Q ( Large hardware store) and it cost me £1.14! I'll chat more later, I need to shoot out now If anyone wants to have a go at making a plaster one, I have 900g left over!

Thats what I thought. I sure wish they had them easyier to purchase in America. i have electric equipment that I could easily use to make some really awesome nests from them.

That is a form of Y-Tong Yeah I thought Y-tong was a brand name for it, I wanted to verify that before I started telling people that though No progress tonight, I've been out for a meal, so the plan is to hack at it tomorrow. The plan is going to be the same though, and the layout will be very similar. As for the dark room, of you notice, I had a little convoluted tube going to the room, which would have been the bottom right. I figured this would stop light flooding in from the tunnel, and I plan to do the same again. The bottle top was to provide as large a sealable entrance as I could find, in order for me to feed and water them, then just a series of chambers. the block idea will likely be larger for them too

Definately love the ant chamber. Very simple but gives the nest a personal touch. Flavus
