I am buying a ant colony since I have a spare ant world set up. I could get a myrmica rubra colony with 2 queens and 40 plus workers or a lasius niger colony with 15+ workers and a flavus colony with the same amount of workers for £11 What do you guys think?

What ant species are you currently keeping?

I think you should get L.Flavus because you said you had an ant world right? Well you will be able to see clearly their tunnels and chambers they create.
On the other hand, Myrmica Rubra wouldnt be a bad choice either.

What ant species are you currently keeping? Flavus I had lasius niger but they died. I've now got a dodgy messor barbarus colony. I can get a niger and flavus colony for £11 for two. Or the Myrmica rubra for just over £8

If you have the required space and feel capable of caring for Lasius Flavus (They are a tricky species.) than I would go for the Niger/Flavus combo. Flavus

Thats what I thought. But why are they so tricky?

Due to the fact that Flavus forage underground they can be difficult to keep. If you have a good set-up for them than they are a great ant species to keep. However if you have the wrong set-up for them than they will prove very challenging to keep. If you read Myrm's Lasius Flavus Journal than he has a good set-up for them. Flavus
