I have messor barbarus and I have lost two ants now out of 4 or 5. Now two more are fighting whilst the last one carries on doing its duties. Why? Please help! If you need more info, just ask.

Something to do with different scent? But as I may have said earlier, it could be a virus

I have no idea to be honest, it could be scent but doubt it seeing they are from the same family. It could be stress related, are you moving them around a lot or did you leave them alone the last couple of days? The annoying thing is that you only have a couple of workers as the best advice is to just wait and see I guess.. And as long as the queen stays safe the colony will survive, just takes a bit longer.

As LaSiUs said it may be a virus.
Have you moved them around alot lately? It may be due to stress?

Yes, it seems the workers are doing their own thing. The two that were fighting have gone into the lil wooden tunnel, and have being there since this afternoon. The winner will be revealed in the morning. Me and my mum have a bet going on who will win. She has 50p on the little one and I have 50p on the big one ;D Might as well make a colonies downfall into a bit of fun. The queen has brood with her so hopefully this means her and the last sane worker has a future. Although that 'sane' worker doesn't seem to bother much with her Let's hope she manages okey by herself.
