Its 10:00am here in Uk - west midlands, and ive just seen a male winged ant arrise from the nest and try to start flying, its really hot here, and weve just had a week of rainstorms....when is the best time to actually catch a queen ant? and what time do they all start to fly?

Cool! I think they should all fly pretty soon. The best time to catch a queen is when you see a queen. Get one without wings, because that means she's already mated. I recommend catching two, just in case one doesn't make it.

4:03pm Flying ant day for L.niger here as well, can't talk gotta catch queen. No flight for L. flavus.
Edit 6:07pm Flights coming to an end here in the East of England. I've only seen L.Niger flying. All the L.Flavus have not flown at all.

I have two Lasius Niger queens No Flavus I saw like 50 mated Queens on my walk (6.15pm) I wish I could catch more,but no Room Some of them had one wing, some none, and some were VEERRRYYY plump, they will lay soon probably! We (Ant keepers) wait all year. Then its all over so soon:( But now I have COLONY'S of my own (First time with Queens) YAY! ;D
