Hello, Well there are 2 colonies of L.Niger outside which I have observed that the ants go in a kind of zig zag from one entrance of the colony to the other carrying brood or small insects, well with Kool Kid's '' secret recipe '' I put some just in the middle of the 2 entrances to see what happened, after 1 min there was about 60 ants munching on the piece I gave them, I also put a small fruit fly and when 3 ants saw it, It was like they alarmed every ant on the food and they all went running in zig zag again, taking the brood in and colony number 2 reacted differently instead of running away, they still mucnhed away with others hunting the fly animal123

You'll probably find that the two colonies are actually just one large colony with more than one entrance, which is not uncommon in larger colonies. The classic sign of this are ant-lines going from one entrance to the other.
