Hello all of you, I have collected some small black ants that live in my yard. They are about a millimeter in size and have what look to be brownish legs. They are very social.

Need pics! They could be anything.
A millimeter in size and brown legs sounds like Argentine ants. That is my guess before pics go up!

I cant but They have a brown striped thorax and a millimeter is as big as they get. They are very small, and do argentine ants live in idaho?

no, as I said hardly visible but I'm sure their ants because I've seen them in big cities and towns. any idea? I believe their mating flights are in the spring because last year there were hundreds of them.

Could it be pheidole pallidula? As they are 1.5mm.

Hi Animal123. That is a good attempt at identifying this ant but it certainly isn't P. pallidula; they are not black in colour. But well done for having a go anyway.
