Hey guys! Well I'm on my way to constructing the ants home, got some perspex plastic on it's way a4 size 3mm thick, going to attach that to a wooden frame and a tube then attach the tube onto a glass tank I bought today. If I understand it right the slim-line perspex plastic will be the nest and the tank the foraging area. Was originally going to be ordering Camponotus Japonicus but decided they might be too big and need too much space for me to handle right away so changed my mind to pheidole pallidula, however as I understand it pheidole pallidula have quite a brutal sting, as we have small children in the house I wouldn't want to risk the damn tank being knocked over and broken and a thousand angry stinging ants all over the house I may have changed my mind again. Slowly starting to think about just sticking to Lasius Niger, also thinking about returning back to Camponotus Japonicus, time will tell I guess will construct the housing first and then see what I'll do. Just thought I'd update you
