How can i post an image here of my ants? I'll post my new lasius flavus in a jar. They have tons of brood, and I found them on the lawn, inside a small mound. I'm hoping they have mating flights soon, so I can capture their mated queens for my ant farm. I'll add a queen to the jar too if I get lots of them!

They are taking care of it in the nest. If this won't work, I'll give the queen some eggs from the jar. It just rained tons last night, and It's looking sunny. Gunna bring my test tubes along and try and catch some queens at school

Anyway, how will you know what nest they're from after they've flown away and mated? It's the only one I've seen in my area. I think most get raided by lasius niger.

It's very likely you have missed some. L. flavus spends most of its time underground, so you are not likely to notice all of the colonies.

L. flavus spends most of its time underground, so you are not likely to notice all of the colonies. I only noticed it because of the hill they had made. I then opened the hill to find tons of them.
