My ants arrived today and i've got the Alpha Ants Starter Kit A from Antstore, but i don't know what to do with the water tube :S i know its for drainage, but where should i put it??? thanks!!!

Water tube? Do you mean the test tube that the ants came in (which has water behind a cotton wool bung) or one of those upright bird seed feedeer things? Either way, I place my ants water tube in the main foraging area.

thanks! i put it at the bottom of the nesting box to act as a "reservoir", its all set up now, and i think my queen just laid her first egg, i saw her abdomen contracting!!!

Where did you buy the Queen from? Read Myrms as well, it goes into more detail with caring and looking after a colony in the starter set

Where did you buy the Queen from? Read Myrms as well, it goes into more detail with caring and looking after a colony in the starter set my boyfriend got it for me for my birthday from Antstore. yup thanks Myrm as well!

Hi, I recently recieved the alpha ants starter kit and had a bit of trouble figuring out how to use the two drainage pipes. Read through both of the above guides and have it figured now.
Just had one more question re: covering of the slimline ant habitat to prevent light entering. I read in a book that red acetate plastic could be used on the outside to make the ants think it is dark. Would people recommend this or just use a bin bag to prevent light getting in?
Also is it better to dampen the sand loam mixture before adding to the slimline habitat or after. This differed in the two guides.
Sorry for the basic questions but I'm an absolute beginner so just wanna make sure I get it right!
