Are dried insects (for example, the dried flies from Ants UK) any good for ants? Would you just give it to them dry or rehydrate it first?
If the ants accept it, it would be a good food source as it would keep for a long time. I can often find dead invertebrates lying around outside, but not always.

I have tried them several times including this week; the ants ignore them even when I had soaked the dried flies in water overnight.

I think dried insects would be good for larvae, if it is possible to rehydrate them then they probably would be a good bet for the ants too (thought I don't know if they'd get the nutrients).
