Hi I am considering making some 'bhaktar' diet ant jelly. Does anyone know how long it lasts? I want to fill my colonies with some high-quality foods before winter. Also, does this mould easily? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Limes Bin Lid The jelly lasts for ages in the refrigerator and if any of of it does get mouldy you can always cut the mould out. Once in the ant tank it tends to dry out vary quickly, within 24 hours, and it will go mouldy if left in there.

I see. What if I keep it moist with a drop of water? I will probably make some.

That's probably even worse. Mould and bacteria need warm damp conditions to thrive.

I have tried something similar to this in the past. The main problem I noticed was that despite my efforts to clean it all out and remove the residue, the inside of the test tubes became coated with a thin film of sticky residue. This coated eggs in a couple of cases and caused them to die. In the end I had to transfer all my ants to new test tubes. So if you are going to do it, just make sure you can remove it quickly after they have had their fill.

Even though Limes probably no longer needs the help, I am going to give you an <[EXALT+1]> for that description, It's nice to see new members helping elder members ;D.
