Ok so sometime noxt yr ( APRIL-JUNE) I am thinking of getting another colony.. species undercided posibly formica fusca. But i am planning to keep them in a test tube setup. A question would be, do i need to cover the test tube as this is where they will nest, or as i will keep them in 1 of the darken places of the house will this not matter? And if i do cover surely plastic bin liner wil be a bit awkward to take on and off so is their another material.

If you plan to keep them in a test tube set up then I'd be tempted just to keep them exposed to light 24/7.
