Hey everyone, After a little advice if possible. I got bought this ant farm (See pic below) as a gift. I dont know much about ytong ant farms but I have seen videos of some. They all had a little hole in the glass so you could squeeze water into it. Mine does not have a whole to do this. How would I get water into the farm. Also is it ytong that is really absorbent? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated Thank you

I have had no experience with y-tong ant farms but some of the bin lids have, such as Miles. Hopefully he, or somebody else, may help

If you have the proper tools then you can easily make your own hole in the glass. I recommend putting two or three holes in various locations for that size of a nest. Ytong does absorb the water however without sand coated chambers you will need to water it quite often. It looks quite nice. Flavus

Thanks for the replies. I have no idea of how to put holes in the glass. I would be too worried to break the glass lol It has 3 outlets 2 on the left side a 1 on the right side. I will be connecting two out worlds so I can use different stuff for them to forage in I am looking forward to getting it ready

Im not sure to be honest as it was given to me as a gift.
Im pretty sure I have seen suck ones on ebay.
I am thinking of just keep L.Niger in it.
All I need to do now is figure out how to safely put some holes in the glass and get a small colony.

Can you hook a test-tube full of water up to one of the outlets?
Then have water reservoirs in the foraging area? That would be a sufficient amount of water for arid species.
