Hey I just bought some gravel/sand from a garden centre, I also put a coin on it just so you get some idea of scale. Is this to big? Also can I put it in as it is or do you think I need to mix it with something?

I don't think it's going to work, Sainter. Can you wet it and it will stay together like sand or soil does so that the ants can tunnel in it?

Definitely not nesting. But if you had a foraging box it would be perfect for it

Anything they nest in in the wild they'll nest in in captivity. Garden soil is usually fine.

my dad is a roofer and he obviously uses cement and to make it he needs sand, so he always has a TONNE of sand in his van, so a coupple nights ago i got some of his builder sand, it is perfect for several reasons,
Its SLIGHTLY damp It sticks together very easily The ants can dig through it very easily!
Ill upload a pic later to show u how much digging they did in under 24hours, i was AMAZED!

The thing is about building sand is that it might have pesticide.
