amazing, I have sugar water, honey, pineapple, which they aren't bothered by, but the ants love dry dog food, I feed my dogs Pedigree dry mix, and after reading this thread, thought I would try it. I have three ants stuck to it eating it.

I have recently got a L.flavus queen so when she gets workers I can test different foods with them and post the results here ;D

I gave my L.Niger ants some apple yesterday and they were all over it. Today I got some honey and put it on the end of a wooden bbq skewer (thanks antscanada) and fed my test tube queens. they LOVED it. It was also quite a bonding moment. If you have a test tube queen from the nuptial flights I highly recommend trying this. When my hand got a bit tired from holding the skewer I wiped the excess on the bottom of the tube and left her to it. within about 10 minutes it was all gone.

Awwwww, that sounds really quite sweet ^^ I'd love to have seen that. Wasn't she even a little unnerved that a giant pointy stick was coming at her?

Lasius niger seem not to be bothered by the "giant pointy stick" coming to her, mine also seemed quite eager to eat aswell, xenomorph you don't have to hold the skewer there you can put a small blob on the testube floor and she will still drink it >.<
