Yesterday I made chocolate chip pancakes for both my sister and I. We had leftovers, so I took a little chunk outside and started tearing it into pieces of varying sizes. A large amount of activity was noted. The Formica cf. fusca investigated but showed little interest. Eventually though, the Tetramorium found the pieces and assembled a workforce of over 300-400 workers. They cut it into workable pieces and took them to the nest to be devoured. After they were done, Tetramorium foragers increased quite a bit in the surrounding area.

I wonder if ants also get high on chocolate, like humans...
