As Fraggs Bin Lid ( ;D ) states above, Bin Lids is just rhyming slang (Cockney rhyming slang to be more accurate) for kids. For the purposes of this forum a bin lid is a boy aged 13 to 15. Why is it restricted to boys aged 13-15 here? well basically because that is who we most commonly get on this forum in the way of kids, in fact I don't think we have any girls as members; women, yes, but no girls. I guess young teenage boys are more into ants, bugs and other creepy-crawlies than young teenage girls are >.< The kids here don't seem to mind being called bin lids, certainly none have ever complained about it, and some actually join in the spirit of fun here by referring to themselves and each other as bin lids. >.< All bin lid members are placed into the Larvae member group of which here are 3 stages to reflect their age. This is so that I can instantly recognise whether any of our bin lid members are online so that I can keep an eye on them to ensure their online safety (the most important thing to me on this forum) as I really do care for them. A further explanation of all member groups on MANF can be found hereOh and there's no special name for adults.

Awesome! Thanks for the replies, that clears it up then I actually asked because in my naive new interest of ants I found a huuuuge nest under a an old black bin lid and wondered if it was common place! Obviously not

I was always under the influence that a "bin lid" was rhyming slang for "quid" (pound sterling) since it rhymes and has a cylindrical shape.
