Would it not be better to put her back with one worker first just to be sure she safe?

Just let nature take its course. put here back in with them and let them do their own thing. chances are the queen was injured and a worker was trying to save here by dragging her away. Keeping her away from workers will probably kill her, as she needs workers once they hatch.

I was walking down my street yesterday and a small ant nest of L.N had literally what I seen 100+ workers out running on 1 pavement slab, I thought it was going to be the flights but no other colonies were doing the same - but I reckon there will be some small flights in the upcoming months.

ooh, what area do you live in? i live in essex, and a few weeks ago i saw drones flying around and some queens on the pavement, but i didnt see them pouring out of the nests like i usually do, so is it possible that what i saw was just a little flight and not the major one?? :S

North-East in Billingham. And yes that will have been a mini-flight, they happen to make sure that if the Major flight fails they will hopefully survive.
