Hi could anyone give me a positive id of the ant in the picture. i know it isnt a very detailed pic as it was taken with my phone camera( sorry). I am new to ant keeping and have only been a member of this forum for a couple of weeks. My Children discovered them at the end of our garden under an old flower pot. Present were workers, pupae and winged queens. I would be grateful for suggestions. Thanks Peter. Attachments:

I would say that it is a Myrmica species.

Sorry, I can only say it's a Myrmica species but I think it would probably be Myrmica Rubra Or Ruginodis. I wouldn't go exactly by my word since the picture is either too small to see or too large and pixelated to see . Good luck, In the Meantime just believe it to be Myrmica Rubra.

Thank you for your replies. Thought it was a Myrmica species just wanted to make sure. i know the photo didnt help, it was the closest i could get with my phone camera. |Thank you once again
