The wider the better though because mine always seem to hang the prey off the edge then fall because of it's weight, but a wide stick to move around and turn would be great .

I've added more twigs the the holes and stuck them in place with small amounts of blue tack. They are finding it easier! It does look messy now as its a bit full but once they move I can re organise it.
They had their first spider! It was like a kid in a candy shop within a minute of it going down (dead, frozen, defrosted next day) it was gone! Only a tiny spider.
A scout keeps popping his head into the hole of the slim tank but no move yet..

My ants aren't budging from the ant o sphere to the slim nest. However they do use the foraging area in between. Would it help attaching the ant o sphere and slim tank direct?

I have the same issue with lasius Nigers. They are in an almost identical setup to yours, except they won't leave the foraging tank and move into the nesting tank. The queen is in a test tube with her brood and the workers rarely move out to find food. What I did was place a stick from the ground to the opening of the tube in the outworld (foraging tank) and they were all very curious. I can report that one brave worker went up the stick, all the way along the long tube and into the slim nest. He went straight back. All you need to do is leave them and they will move and explore. Once one worker deems it good, they will all look at it by one slowly until they feel it is safe to move the queen and brood. Personally, I wouldn't move it directly because then, if they do choose to explore, you may want to move it back which would freak them out a little. Good luck!!!
