Jon, I will not be making one due to the fact last time I made one all my ants died...Maybe Air dusting wasn't the right method and I should have soaked, but I really cannot be bothered.

Yeah I might opt for the Ytong but I will have to find the cheapest because to be truthful I don't want to spend so much on that after buying 8 MonoCrystalline solar panels and my £600 Hariwake jumped out of the pond for the second time and met Her fate . I may go for a small Ytong nest though Sorry about your fish rubra, koi are truly wonderfully elegant and it breaks my heart to hear about your terrible story... You could buy a cheap pit of plaster and make your own nest using a mold is you didn't want to buy an expensive Y-tong one!

Nah Sorry Like I previously states (I think you were composing your message when I posted) I will not be making any nests.
I think I will get a Ytong nest If I can get one for £10-£20 if not I will use my tank ;D. It also amazes me how in 10 minutes I am already on page two >.<

Just found this on Queen Ant Shop... It is just over budget at £23.98 (Product = £14.99) + (Packaging = £2) + (Shipping = £6.99) = £23.98I think it looks really good, but you would need to attach an out-world. The chambers/ tunnels are hand carved and every nest is slightly unique! I know others have purchased from this supplier and were happy with your purchase. What do you think rubra? ;D

Well, I would highly suggest Tar Heel Ants. I have a Camponotus colony moving into one and they seem very happy at this point.
BUT, I'm not sure if it would fit your budget so my second recommendation for that species would be a Y-tong from Queen Ant Shop.

No, Sorry guys, Despite what you said I would rather save money and use my tank I have. I'm still deciding but I think this Is what I would prefer, filling it with sand and using it.

Let us know how you get on Also, a little tip... Use a light coloured substrate with dark ants as it makes them easier to spot ;D

Right scrap that and everything I said! I'm getting a colony of M.Barbarus with 1-4 workers for £15, I'll keep them in a tube until 15-25 workers then put them in their own Ytong nest
