It's been a little too long since the last game. This ant was found near Dorchester. She is 4mm long. The source of the image will be revealed at the end of the game.

No no, Myrmicine have no soldiers I'm afraid. It sure looks like a soldier anyway... The only myrmica I think It has a possible ID match with would be Myrmica Ruginodis, I can't be too sure But I don't have a clue.

Messor and Solenopsis too! and Pheidologeton! Although I kind of treat soldiers and majors interchangeably. A myrmicine is any ant from the Myrmicinae subfamily. formicine -> Formicinaeponerine -> Ponerinaedolichoderine -> Dolichoderinae

The individual in the photo is a queen. It would be a parasitic species. I know the genus, but I can't get it to roll off my tongue.

This queen is not an assassin, though she does kind of look like one.

Is it a Tetramorium, I also think this due to it's location, as I here that species only lives on the coast of Britain...
