It's kind of hard for me to say when and where to look for different queens in England when I don't live there, but I sometimes suspect that the ease of access to colonies doesn't let the enthusiast investigate the diversity of their surroundings. I used to think there were six species of ant where I lived, and I didn't learn otherwise until I made a serious attempt to check every warm day after a rainfall.

Myrmica Sabuleti stay in low ground, the whole of my area is on a very large hill, can that cancel them out then?
