Move them into a testube setup then..Put them into hibernation then take them back out and the put them back in a second time and take them back out that should kill the mites as that's what most people do. Also change the soil that they were living in and put all the wood in the oven to eliminate any remaining mites.

I have updated the post you quoted... To hibernate them simply put them in a cold place or the fridge(Around 15 degrease Celsius).

Tetramorium Bin Lid; when you say 15 degrees Celcius, do you mean centigrade? because if you do then that is 1) too warm for a fridge to work effectively at chilling food and 2) too warm to have any effect on ants at all. Fridges need to be at about 5 degrees Centigrade or below to work effectively for both purposes.
