Obviously they've had what they need I second what LaSiUs said. They will forage if absolutely necessary. I have decided that I now consider Lasius flavus as a non-beginner and I will no longer recommend them.

They will forage at night though, and if you have a slim farm they make nice tunnels

I have decided that I now consider Lasius flavus as a non-beginner and I will no longer recommend them. I think they should stay a beginner ant but for an older more patient beginner. I have two colonies of them in test tubes and they are just fine looking after themselvs and continues to develop with 10+ workers, and I haven't done a thing for them.

Well I'm a beginner and most of my lasius have died over the course of 2 days and I still have a hundred and thirty. Just need to know what I could feed em. Starvation might be a problem since they are all getting supplied by 2 microscopic aphids... Please remember proper capitalization-Edited by Flavus101 March 20, 2011

Friday 8 April 2011
Still these ants do not seem to eat. Yet there is a fair number of healthy workers running about in the chambers. Can't see the queen or any brood but then again they tend to stay hidden.
