Unfortunately, hibernation hasn't ended yet, and I am really starting to miss my ants. They really do need some more time in the garage. I will take them out near the end of January or the beginning of February.
May this month go by fast! Please!

I can't wait for the month to be over because after my birthday I'm getting a new M.rubra colony

My room was quite warm this morning and I got up to find that my big Lasius niger colony had half come out of hibernation and to find that they were running around on the table...

As in running about on the table, escaped?

Yep, they have had full scale invasions of other ant colonies before. That's how my Formica lusatica colony died.

And extremely aggressive to neighboring colonies! Definitely. They simply do not tolerate other ants it seems.

Got a weird question. I don't really have a place to keep my queen but do you think I'd be able to have her in a refrigerator if it isn't too cold.

How cold is it? I belive that a good tempreture for hibernation is 3-6 degrees (c). Can somebody confirm that though, as I am not sure.

I've heard of people hibernating ants in a refrigerator before. I believe Antstore actually sells little ant fridges.
