Because you could wipe out Native ants with invasive species or disease. And native insects and plants

As much as I'd love exotic ants that are illegal, I respect the law and I agree with thomas on this matter.

Dealers who bend the rules are a discrace to the hobby. They make it more difficult for dealers who stick by thevrules and truly care for there stock. When i worked in the exotic reptile store we got traders like that all the time.... 9/10 the livestock were underfed or dehydrated and of generally poor condition compared to healthy well looked after stock from reputable dealers. These people are after a quick buck, scrimp on food bills, avoid importing fees and rules and should be hammered with all the law can throw at them.
I would rather pay premium for legal exotic species that i know are fit and healthy than fund the lowlifes that give our great and facinating hobby a bad reputation sometimes.

Ecological and economic destruction are risks anybody takes from buying exotic species from even reputable dealers. I know that AntsKalytta (one of the top traders) has proven that it will disregard the environmental laws of other countries for a profit, and I suspect that the other trading sites just haven't been caught yet.
The environment you're supposed to be celebrating isn't worth putting at risk just to have a cool pet. The hobby benefits from the absence of exotic trade, or any trade.

I have to say that the formicarium CG ants have been selling recentley are the worst thing on the ant market... All CG ants live ant stock is just bought from ant store in bulk and sold at higher single prices which there is nothing wrong with (apart from the US shipping). However, the formicariums they are selling are a complete rip off - there is no way of humidifying the nest and it looks awful...

Up there, in my opinion, are Jaystone Ant Supply and Ants Georgia. I'm not even going to comment on AntsNational, although they might be a tiny bit better.

Umm. Right. Have you done much real comparing of the two? The biggest concern of mine about his nests would be the lack of a way to retain moisture. THA nests have the ability to hold water for over 3 days, but AntsNational habitat nests are watered anywhere on the brick. This causes the water to easily leave the nest, making daily watering a necessity. Sorry if I sound like a salesman for them, but I'm really not. The quality is incomparable.

I thought Antsnational seemed quitw good quality. After an assessment I've made.. Nope. I'm not trying to destroy his company, I just feel like people should know that the nests aren't all that they may be cracked up to be.

What's that supposed to mean? I'm thinking about making a guide about how to recognize the important properties of a nest. Would that be helpful to anyone?

Means nothing, just saying "okay...". Yeah that would be helpful, as in future I reckon I will use mainly concrete nests for my captive colonies. It would hep me in the construction of the perfect nest.

Everyone has there opinions, but I dont think you can say "I just feel like people should know that the nests aren't all that they may be cracked up to be." Until you have reviewed both.
